Non-linear Elastic Wave Spectroscopy (NEWS)

The active acoustic method for the crack's detection in homogeneous and inhomogeneous materials.

This method is appropriate for metals, composites (a concrete, a laminate), wood and others.

The detection is based on the observing changes of the acoustic signal after its passing through the material in which cracks are. This method of detection uses sensors which are fixed on the investigated object like transducers and receivers alternately.

The biggest advantages of this method are its quick detection (the whole object is scanned in seconds) and immunity against to surrounding noises – it is possible to investigate the object in time of usage.

The method is able to find the cracks in the initial phase, this feature is very important for safety of the tested constructions.
